About the team and role

Group Regulatory Compliance is part of 2nd Line of Defence (LOD) and an independent function with responsibility for monitoring and overseeing the effectiveness of the Group’s compliance with its legal and regulatory obligations.

The Regulatory Compliance Manager is key in ensuring the Group complies with its legal and regulatory obligations and is responsible for the end-to-end compliance lifecycle including management and reporting of compliance breaches, compliance monitoring, compliance plans, regulatory change and regulatory requests. The role will be providing compliance advice and challenging the business to identify and manage compliance risks arising. The role requires an understanding of retail banking regulatory requirements and the need to balance those requirements with the needs and priorities of the business.

Experience, capabilities and qualifications

Extensive technical knowledge and experience in understanding and interpreting regulatory change
Ability to effectively anticipate, plan and manage change
Ability to work under broad direction, deal with competing demands, manage multiple initiatives and effectively manage expectations of multiple stakeholders in a complex environment
Ability to understand and interpret legal advice and regulation
Knowledge of current compliance trends and topical issues within the financial services industry
Project management, financial product management experience and process improvement skills
The ability to contribute and work at both a strategic and operational level
Knowledge and experience with retail banking or APRA prudential standards preferred
