At the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), we’re dedicated to carrying out meaningful work that drives improvements and elevates student achievement across NSW, now and into the future.

We accomplish this by supporting all school sectors with high-quality syllabuses, assessment (including managing the HSC and NAPLAN), teaching standards (e.g., accrediting teachers) and school environments (including setting and monitoring school standards).

**About the role**

It’s an exciting time to join the Communications and Engagement function at NESA. We are moving into a critical period with the HSC exams and results approaching, and delivering landmark changes to the NSW Curriculum through the Curriculum Reform program.
The Media Officer monitors and reports on traditional and social media activity and provides content and reporting where required.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to:

- Conduct research and prepare content for proactive and reactive media opportunities
- Monitor state-wide media, address media issues and prepare holding lines as needed
- Ensure adherence to internal and external approval chains prior to release of media commentary and messaging
- Develop case studies to support media announcements and news stories
- Establish and maintain rapport with the executive leadership team, senior leadership group, the Ministers office, media representatives and sector partners.

**About you**
- You have excellent communication skills including strong messaging, narrative and writing skills
- You have the ability to show initiative and work under mínimal supervision and under pressure
- You are able to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and work collaboratively across offices, and sectors
- You have the proven ability to deliver to deadlines
- You are flexible, agile and have availability to attend some after-hours and occasional weekend events.

**What is an Essential Requirement?**
- Tertiary qualifications in related discipline and/or relevant equivalent experience.
