**The role**
The Early Parenting Practitioner will work part time as part of a community-based team, supporting infants, young children and their families to achieve optimal safety, connection, development and wellbeing goals. With the support and guidance of the Program Coordinator, the EPP will provide direct support and education to families experiencing vulnerability in home and community settings, and who require additional support and assistance with parenting challenges relating to care and relationships with infants and young children.
The EPP will work in partnership with families to identify key strengths and challenges. During the program, EPPs assist with setting goals and provide intensive teaching, modelling, encouragement, and support to enhance parenting skills and improve outcomes for families. The EPP will also assist with referral and liaison to other professionals and agencies where appropriate.
Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the EPP - Community is recognised as an integral member of the multidisciplinary team, working in alignment with QEC’s Model of Care, Clinical Practice Framework and the Victorian Government Best Interests Case Practice Model.
**To be considered for this role you will possess**:
- A qualification at Diploma level or higher in either Community Services, Early Childhood, Social Work, Enrolled Nurse or similar
- Experience working with families in the health/welfare sector ideally within the early parenting period
- Highly developed skills and experience in risk assessments and management
- Sound understanding of child development and the factors that can impede a child’s development
