The Opportunity
We excited to advise that we are now hiring a new Boeing Fleet Manager in our Engineering team. Reporting to our Senior Fleet Engineering Manager and acting as a critical member of the Fleet Technical Management Leadership Team this role will see you leading the fleet technical management of Boeing 787 fleet, ensuring its safe, compliant and effective operation. It is an exciting time to lead the Jetstar 787 fleet with the preparation for the recently announced mid-life cabin refresh program underway as well as other high profile operational performance initiatives taking shape.
As Boeing Fleet Manager your responsibilities will include:
- Safety and compliance management of the 787 fleet as defined the Jetstar Part 42 Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition and supporting manuals.
- Partnering with a range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver strong fleet health and operational performance, AOG recovery and service provisioning (e.g. CASR Part 21 repair and modifications).
- CASR Part 42 fleet technical management activities, including managing fleet configuration, major defect reporting, airworthiness directives, modification programs and processing of service literature.
- Manage fleet AMP and reliability programs, ensuring that audit findings remain at an acceptable level, without compliance breaches.
- Maintaining strong collaborative relationships with Boeing and other external component suppliers to drive Qantas Group priorities for the 787 fleet.
- Provisioning of transparent information and key updates pertinent to the 787 fleet to all levels and business units across the Qantas Group such as Flight Operations, Corporate Communications, Qantas Group Engineering Leadership, Customer Experience, Safety, Finance as well as the Jetstar CEO and COO.
- Partnering with the Engineering Commercial team to manage contracts, ensuring that contract deliverables are achieved and cost effective as well as supporting resolution of technical issues.
- Maintain strong governance of maintenance costs for 787 fleet and manage annual budgeting throughout each financial year.
- Identifying opportunities for innovation investment and driving process improvements that result in ongoing improvements in fleet metrics.
- Delivering strong people leadership to the 787 Engineering Fleet Team.
Key to achieving success in this role will be your ability to balance the operational, daily reactive requirements of the role whilst maintaining your focus on strategic improvement opportunities and creating a performance and customer focused culture.
About you
We are searching for an analytic, process minded leader who will take the initiative to proactively identify improvement opportunities and have the confidence and stakeholder management capability to effectively engage a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will bring deep technical expertise and have rounded out your engineering experience with exposure to project management and process improvement methodologies.
You will bring:
- A LAME or Professional Engineering qualification, ideally coupled with Tertiary qualifications in Engineering Management, Aviation or a related field (highly regarded)
- Demonstrated understanding of process improvement and problem solving methodologies, such as Lean Six Sigma
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- A superior customer focus - capable of identifying customer needs and resolving customer issues
- Strong negotiations skills, with ability to effectively analysis and utilise insights to support decision making and improvements
- Confidence in communicated and presenting to a range of senior stakeholders
- A genuine interest in leading others and creating a high performance, innovative team culture
