Sydney, Australia Boral Full time

**About the Opportunity**

With safety prioritised above all else at Boral, we look out for each other and are committed to zero harm across our vast, vertically-integrated national business. An opportunity exists for a proactive and energetic Health & Safety Business Partner to join our national Health and Safety team, supporting our Asphalt business which supplies high quality surfacing solutions for a wide range of Australian road and construction projects.

Reporting to a Business Unit General Manager and Head of Business Partnering Health and Safety, your primary focus is to support our NSW Asphalt business, ensuring that business unit level issues are understood, controls are implemented and compliance and assurance measures reviewed. Working closely with the frontline, this is a key role in delivering strong alignment between operational risks and health and safety controls and will enable safety improvements and standardisation of processes across asphalt manufacturing sites, ‘spray seal’ depots, and mobile operations.

Operating as a true business partner, you will relish the opportunity to travel to our sites on a regular basis to engage with leaders and employees and really understand their challenges, creating learning opportunities from issues and incidents to enable them to perform more effectively. A central part of this role is to build an intimate understanding of our operations and forge strong and lasting relationships with stakeholders so as to deliver positive safety outcomes.

Duties and responsibilities for the role include:

- Constructively working with and supporting operational leaders on risk management
- Building operational teams health and safety capacity by providing specialist health and safety advice, support and coaching
- Supporting the roll out and implementation of the Boral Health & Safety Strategy and Business Unit Plan
- Facilitation and management of incident response and subsequent analysis and learnings
- Supporting the operations in appropriate preparation, management and response to HSE Regulatory Compliance inspections, audits, statutory reports and prescribed incident notifications
- Facilitating the implementation of the HSEQ Management System & National Programs
- Ensure Assurance Audits are completed in line with the Audit and Assurance Program and monitor closeout of WHS actions.

**What are we looking for?**
- A positive and proactive approach with a willingness and commitment to partnering with and supporting operational teams
- Proven experience in a similar role, ideally with strong skills in incident investigations and facilitating learnings from incidents
- Proven experience in a similar role within a high-risk and industrial environment, with any prior experience in bituminous manufacturing, construction or infrastructure highly regarded
- Proven experience with implementing successful organisational change within complex environments
- Knowledge of WHS regulations, systems, processes and Information Systems
- Cert IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety with tertiary qualifications ideally
- Superior interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and communication skills with a natural ability to build solid relationships.

**What’s on Offer?**
- Motor vehicle allowance
- Permanent, full-time opportunity
- Access to a variety of support networks including Boral Employee Assistance Program
- Work for a values-based business that shares goals and celebrates individual and team success
- Join an industry aimed at offering value to the community & committed to Zero Harm
- Iconic market leader committed to driving sustainable outcomes
- We are Australian-owned and operated
- Opportunity to purchase additional leave
- Generous paid parental leave entitlements.
