**About the role**

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Field Supervisor to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.

Reporting to Senior Field Supervisor, you’ll work closely with field officers and other staff to co-ordinate, supervise, and implement the Bushfire Program for the Blue Mountains Branch. The Bushfire Management Program field team is primarily involved in fuel reduction activities by both mechanical means and prescribed fire and, during periods of high bushfire activity, may be required to participate in bushfire suppression or other bushfire response functions.

Supervising and developing a team plays a critical role as well as your ability to adapt to change, finding solutions to problems and ensuring safety is always a priority. Heavy plant experience is an advantage.

**About You**

As a supervisor, you’ll be experienced in managing and leading a dynamic team and managing multiple projects at once. Your organisational skills and adaptability will be key to your success, coupled with your communication skills and ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders. You’ll work with Rangers and contractors to ensure the delivery of programs and priority projects. As such your collaborative approach and motivation to achieve outcomes will be an asset in this role.

**Essential requirements**
- Current Drivers / MR licence and demonstrated ability to operating 4wd vehicles and heavy plant up to 4.5 tonnes/15 tonne GVM, and ability to obtain a First Aid Certificate.
- Ability to carry out frontline firefighting duties and incident management roles, including ability to obtain and maintain certification as a crew leader or higher within the probationary period (up to 12 months), certification and experience in chainsaw operations to at least cross-cut and basic tree-felling level, ability to operate two-way radio, and a willingness to fly in light aircraft.
- Field Officer applicants must meet the requirements of a firefighting medical which is inclusive of a clearance to undertake frontline firefighting roles. The applicant must pass the task based fitness assessment to a moderate level within the probationary period (up to 12 months) and annually thereafter._
