**Complex Personal Support Worker - Commencing initially as Casual with opportunity to progress to Permanent Part-time (Avg 40 to 70 hours per fortnight) at the completion of f**ull industry and on the job training and support is completed.**

We are currently recruiting for Casual positions (avg 40+ hours per fortnight) with the opportunity to progress to Permanent Part-time positions within our Complex Support team to provide in home personal support to clients in several locations in Brisbane & Caboolture including South West (South to Logan) and Eastern (CBD to Cleveland) suburbs, and Kallangur/Caboolture/Morayfield.
Availability to work shifts on alternating weekends is highly desirable. A variety of shifts are on offer including morning, afternoon, evening, sleepover, and active overnight shifts.
Weekend, afternoon, evening, and overnight/active shifts attract attractive shift loadings and allowances.
**Being a Complex Personal Support Worker with Spinal Life Australia**:
As a Complex Personal Support Worker, you will be assisting our clients with tasks of daily living; making a positive difference through purposeful connection, helping them to live independently in their own homes. We have multiple roles available and are striving to employ individuals who are passionate and professional about providing a high-quality personal support service.
**Key Duties**:
Comprehensive industry level training is provided at commencement of employment, as well as ongoing on the job training and support throughout your employment with Spinal Life Australia.
You will work under the guidance, support and instruction of our Key Workers and Community Nurse clinicians to provide assistance with:
- completing personal support routines for a person with a spinal injury, combined with other complex health, medical or aged care needs - in some instances ventilated care and support is required.
- toileting, bladder and bowel support, including catheter and stoma care management.
- trachea management routines (under supervision and instruction of clinical nurse)
- PEG (Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy) meal supplements and feeding.
- transfers in and out of bed and wheelchairs, using hoists, seating and bed positioning.
- passive exercises and in-home rehabilitation exercise programs. Grooming, bathing, dressing and dental hygiene.
- assistance with medication and basic wound care management.
- domestic support such as meal preparation, light household duties and laundry.
- community access such as arranging taxis or driving with client in their car to appointments and/or social activities.
**About you**:
- You have a positive and professional attitude and have an empathetic nature.
- Experience in Nursing, Aged Care or Disability Support is desirable (however not essential).
- Full industry training is provided, as well as ongoing training and support.
- You are reliable and able to commit to work to an agreed roster of shifts
- You are physically fit - capable of constant lifting, bending, and carrying.
- You treat others with dignity, respect and are without judgement.
- You are an excellent listener who can communicate authentically and honestly and are able to work independently.
- You have a willingness to learn.
- You are adaptable to the different needs, environments, experiences, and cultural backgrounds of our clients.
- Extensive training is provided by our Registered Nurses & Key Support Workers.
- A current Australian driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle.
- A smartphone device.
- Completion of the NDIS Workers Orientation Module.
- Flexibility to work a fixed fortnightly with varying shift times. Weekends & late afternoons into early evenings.
