**Being a Complex Care Support Worker** **with Spinal Life Australia**:
As a **Complex Care Support Worker** you will be assisting our clients with tasks of daily living; making a positive difference through purposeful connection, helping them to live independently in their own homes. Your role is to provide the support our clients need and choose so they can live the life that they want to.
**Support Team Structure**:
Support is provided 24 hours per day - 7 days per week. During times of the day when personal care routines, transfers, and complex health routines are completed - 2 staff will be on shift.
**The Support Team will consist of**:
- Client Service Officer (CSO) - Responsible for overall co-ordination and management of in-home support.
- 2 x Community Nurse (RN) Leads (Personal Support Service Community) to lead a team of approx 10-15x Complex Support Workers.
**Working closely with a client in their own home you'll assist with a wide range of quite personal daily activities such as**:
- Direct care activities will include the supervision and management of the client’s ventilation care routines, bladder and bowel (inclusive of catheter and/or stoma care), medication administration (inclusive of administration of sub-cutaneous injections) passive exercises, wound management and other care activities as directed by the client or under the client’s medical care plan.
- Assisting clients with transfers in and out of bed and wheelchairs, using hoists when required.
- Grooming, bathing, dressing and dental hygiene.
- Personal care, including toileting, bladder (such as changing catheter bags) and bowel management.
- Basic wound care and self-medication.
- Domestic support such as meal preparation, light household duties and laundry.
- Community access such as driving to appointments and social activities.
- Communicate effectively with client and the other personal care team members to delivery high quality in-home personal support.
We do things differently at Spinal Life. You'll be part of a person's ongoing support team, which means you'll get to build long-term professional relationships with your clients and your teammates.
- Experience in providing acute personal care support to people with a Spinal Cord Injury.
- Experience in providing clinical support and supervision to staff in an in-home care setting
- Hold a National Police Check.
- Complete NDIS Worker Orientation Module (Certificate given on Completion).
- Be able to supply a Covid-19 Certificate of Vaccination as per the Qld Health Direction for workers in a healthcare setting.
- A current Australian driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle.
- A smartphone device.
- Flexibility to work a fixed fortnightly with varying shift times across a 24 hour roster.
