The Biological Resource Imaging Laboratory (BRIL) is a unit of the Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre located in the Lowy Cancer Research Centre. As part of BRIL, UNSW Biospecimen Services is providing a coordinated, centrally managed biobanking service for researchers across UNSW and its affiliated research institutes, ensuring a high level of standardised processes around all biobanking activities including patient consent, specimen collection, data linkage and research governance, ensuring that UNSW continues to function as a leader in research employing biospecimens.

The Clinical Data Officer facilitates timely and accurate biobank data-management in compliance with relevant privacy acts, UNSW data management and regulatory legislation. You’ll support staff contributing to the delivery of a comprehensive biorepository and biobanking service and work with others in UNSW Biospecimen Services and the Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre to engage with a wider group of researchers within the Randwick Health & Innovation Precinct. The role also involves liaising with NSW Health, NSW Health Pathology and other stakeholders.

The Clinical Data Officer role reports to the Manager of UNSW Biospecimen Services.

**About the successful applicant**

You have a relevant degree and or experience, and can demonstrate the following Skills and Experience:
- Data management in a hospital/health/research environment
- Ability to ‘translate’ medical coding nomenclature into research ready datasets and upload into biobanking databases.
- Maintaining patient confidentiality, exercising good judgement in managing sensitive and confidential material such as patient health information.
- Meticulous attention to detail with ability to meet predetermined targets and deadlines, whilst being flexible and adaptable to meet changing priorities.
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills, with proven attention to accuracy and detail with respect to preparing documentation.
- Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to develop and sustain relationships and to work collaboratively and effectively with staff and stakeholders at all levels.
- A strong work ethic and initiative, commitment to continuous improvement, openness to new ideas and creative approaches to problem solving in complex settings with a focus on delivering outcomes.
- Ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities particularly, in a biomedical environment, and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training.
