Here's a great little concept store popping up in Melbourne. The Mixed Business store will celebrate Melbourne's underground creative network in a specially curated store, focussing on contemporary art, product and makers, and celebrate the breadth of talent within our city.

ABOUT MIXED BUSINESS STORE

The Mixed Business Store is a space which presents a true reflection of the inner circles of Melbourne, curated by creatives, in a never seen before offering. The store will bring together Melbourne’s underground creative network in a specially curated store, focussing on contemporary art, product and makers, and celebrate the breadth of talent within our city.

The store not only ensures longevity in our collective relationships but strengthens visitors' knowledge of Melbourne’s artistic community, in one location, which is supported by City of Melbourne in the bid to activate spaces for the creative community and its visitors.

The store aims to attract a diverse range of customers from the culturally curious locals, interstate and international visitors; to travellers who are more familiar with similar stores within global creative hubs such as Berlin, New York, London. As well the creative community and those who collectively support our industries.

Feature products/brands include a selection of urban Melbourne artists, creatives and producers.

OVERVIEW

The main duties that the shop sales assistant will perform include selling merchandise and answering any queries regarding the products and artists works; as well as sharing any information regarding the pop up.

You will be provided with backgrounds on the artist and merchandise to learn and refer to. You will be required to maintain the overall appearance of the shop and ensure the shelves are fully stocked.

This role offers a valuable opportunity to gain significant experience and exposure to all facets of an art exhibition.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engagement with customers, exhibition guests and general public
- Provide information about the artist, exhibition, exhibited artwork and merchandise
- Generation of sales + upselling
- POS system / taking payments
- Utilising system to inventory stock and track sales
- Replenishing stock as required
- Ensuring retail space is always neat and tidy as well as safe
- Report to Store Manager or 2IC

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Applicants must be personable, knowledgeable and approachable as a source of information for the artist and exhibition
- Applicants must have experience working in a retail environment and have experience opening and closing a retail store
- Stocktake experience
- Sales background is preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems is preferred
- Strong communication skills to work with guests
- Flexible to work a range of shifts
- Energetic, committed, strong sense of initiative
- Punctual and reliable
- Excellent time management to balance sales and shop maintenance
- A solid understanding of the current contemporary and urban art-scene is preferred
