**The opportunity**

Our client is a community focused federal government agency. They have an exciting opportunity available for a **Project Officer,** to join the Government Relations branch in ensuring that the Agency strategically drives priorities within state and territory governments and Commonwealth departments.

12-month initial Labour Hire contract with the opportunity to extend. APS5 level role offering $53.63 hourly + Superannuation. To be based out of **Geelong**.

This is a hybrid position offering 2 days working from home, with the remaining 3 on site. 37.5-hour work weeks, with 8-hour days expected.

**About the role**:
The APS5 Project Officer is accountable under limited supervision to undertake moderately complex to complex work. Legislation, policies, procedures, standards, methodologies and precedents guide the position.

The APS5 Project Officer is a **team membership** position and is accountable for organising their workflow and making independent decisions relating to an area of responsibility. The position will be required to provide policy advice within an area of specialisation with advice based on policies and legislation.

The position will have a considerable level of contact with internal and external stakeholders and will be required to communicate with and provide advice on a range of matters to resolve moderately complex to complex enquiries.

**Your responsibilities will include**:

- Assisting in project management and coordination activities, monitoring and reviewing program and project activities against plans
- Contributing to the development and management of project plans and schedules in accordance with the Agency's project management framework
- Providing advice, procedural guidance and technical expertise in specific areas of project work
- Performing research work and analysis including contributing to the preparation of reports on relevant project activities
- Contributing to regular project reporting including status updates and exception reports
- Drafting a range of written material including business cases, plans, executive briefs and corporate documentation for review
- Assisting with monitoring project budgets, review and report on expenditure and assist with procurement and contract management
- Assisting with the identification and management of project risks, issues and benefits
- Assisting with project quality management to ensure that project deliverables are fit for purpose and meet client needs
- Collaborating with team members to achieve program, project and business outcomes

**About you**

- Able to work independently or under limited guidance
- Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders on policy, project or operational issues
- Can support internal and external networks
- Strong written & verbal communication
- Previous background within Disability or Government highly advantageous
