**The work of the Positive Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices Unit is guided by the Disability Services Act 2006 and the Guardianship and Administration Act 2000 and includes:
authorising the short term use of restrictive practices for adults with a disability who display behaviours which may cause harm to themselves or others

In fulfilling these responsibilities, the Unit liaises and works closely with a range of stakeholders including the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, the Office of the Public Guardian and the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal.

The state-wide team provides advice, written resources and training for Queensland service providers operating within the NDIS environment to ensure compliance with Queensland's legislative requirements and works in a cooperative manner with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission to ensure providers are aware of and comply with co-regulatory requirements.

Your contribution

The PO3 Clinician is responsible for providing effective, contemporary and evidence-based clinical services in regard to positive behaviour support and restrictive practices using an individualised assessment and service delivery approach.

Key duties and responsibilities

Provide contemporary, transparent and evidence-based clinical advice in regard to positive behaviour support and reducing and eliminating restrictive practices in the context of the Disability Services Act 2006.
Undertake and prepare clinical assessments, submissions, reports, briefs and other documentation as required.
Maintain an active clinical caseload of individuals with complex behaviour support needs.
Ensure that compliance is maintained in regard to the legislative framework and ensure appropriate safeguards are implemented for clients in line with the Disability Services Act 2006.
Support the Positive behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices Unit with providing training and advice to AS&RS staff and the broader disability sector about the requirements of the Disability Services Act 2006 in relation to restrictive practices.
Ability to create and maintain client records consistent with departmental and legislative requirements.

Mandatory and/or desirable requirements

Degree qualifications in allied health, nursing, human services, social or behavioural sciences, or a related field from a recognised tertiary institution with eligibility for full registration with the relevant registration board or membership with the relevant professional association.
Registration, or eligibility to gain registration within 3 months of employment, as a Behaviour Support Practitioner with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission is mandatory for this role.
Worker Screening Clearance is required.
A tertiary degree or higher qualification from a recognised university in psychology, occupational therapy, speech pathology, physiotherapy, social work or nursing is desirable.
It is highly desirable that employees are vaccinated against COVID-19.
A Class 'C' drivers licence is desirable.
