About the Team
The Community Child and Youth Mental Health Program consists of 6 multidisciplinary teams that support children, young people and their families aged from 5-18 years of age presenting with complex mental health needs. Interventions range from acute crisis response to medium term interventions. Liaison with other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations and other external agencies including schools is core to the Community CYMHS model of care.
About the Role
Deliver core clinical services in accordance with the discipline specific Code of Ethics and the National Practice Standards for the Mental Health Workforce. This includes:
Diagnostic assessment and formulation and timely and appropriate treatment interventions, consistent with current best practice.
Case management as part of the multidisciplinary team; more advanced clinicians will demonstrate higher levels of independence and clinical skills.
Provision of reports consistent with discipline and Queensland Health (QH) standards
Referral, liaison and interagency collaborative care planning
Advocacy for consumers and their families/carers
Continually develop evidence-based knowledge and expertise in the child and youth mental health field and participate in continuing supervision, professional development and unit quality improvement activities.
More advanced clinicians are expected to show evidence of developing knowledge and skill in a speciality of Mental Health practice.
Work cooperatively and effectively with the multidisciplinary team and as a member of the discipline to achieve best practice outcomes for consumers and carers
Provide advice, assessments and reports to contribute to and participate in multidisciplinary case management and to external stakeholders as required.
Participate in the development and maintenance of relevant local interagency and care networks.
Participate in practice supervision and training and with experience provide training and supervision to students as delegated by the Discipline Director.
Participate in quality activities and/or research to improve practices and multidisciplinary services within the service unit.
