As a Science Technician for Biosecurity Queensland Invasive Plants and Animals research group, you will provide expertise with plant maintenance, insect rearing and host specificity testing. Your objective will be to grow plants and rear biological control agents for invasive plant species under high security quarantine conditions. You will test whether there is any negative impact of biological control agents on specified native Australian and economically important plant species. This will entail the ability to investigate how to keep plant collections and insect colonies thriving by providing them with optimal environmental conditions and the ability to document details of biological requirements and insect life cycles. You will know you're achieving success in the role when you: - Can collect highly accurate data that contribute to progress in biological control research
- can manage your own work priorities, ensuring assigned tasks are undertaken promptly and meet the project deliverables
- are actively contributing as a member of a high-performing team.
Please refer to the role description for the requirements of the role, including any mandatory qualifications/licences.
