Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and motivated assistant director to join our team. The canadiate will work closely to manage and oversee daily operations, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for children. This role involves supporting the staff management, program planning, compliance, and fostering strong relationships with families, staff, and the community.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Staff Support and Management:

- Assist in the recruitment, training, and development of childcare staff, fostering a positive and collaborative team culture.
- Supervise and support educators in implementing the curriculum and daily routines.
- Conduct staff observations and provide constructive feedback, ensuring best practices in early childhood education.

2. Program Planning and Implementation:

- Collaborate with educators to develop and implement age-appropriate and engaging educational programs that meet developmental milestones and individual needs.
- Monitor program quality, making adjustments to align with curriculum goals and the center’s philosophy.
- Support educators in documenting children’s progress, maintaining high standards for observations, assessments, and individualized plans.

3. Compliance and Health & Safety:

- Ensure compliance with licensing regulations, including health and safety standards, child protection policies, and mandatory reporting.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, emergency drills, and inspections of the facility and equipment.
- Manage health and safety protocols, ensuring a clean, secure environment that supports the well-being of children and staff.

4. Family and Community Engagement:

- Build and maintain positive relationships with families through open communication and regular updates on their children’s progress.
- Organise family events, meetings, and workshops to foster a sense of community and support family involvement in the center.
- Act as a point of contact for family inquiries and concerns, addressing issues promptly and professionally.

5. Administrative Duties:

- Assist the Director in budgeting, resource allocation, and inventory management to support the center’s operational needs.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records, including attendance, incident reports, and regulatory documentation.
- Support the Director in meeting enrollment targets, managing waiting lists, and ensuring a welcoming environment for prospective families.

6. Professional Development and Continuous Improvement:

- Stay updated with current trends, regulations, and best practices in early childhood education.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and encourage staff to engage in ongoing learning.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) to align with national quality standards.

Qualifications:

- Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Previous experience in a childcare or early learning setting, ideally in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of childcare regulations, health and safety standards, and early childhood education frameworks (e.g., EYLF, NQS).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and effectively manage multiple tasks.
- Current First Aid, CPR, and child protection training.
- Valid Working with Children Check (or relevant state check).

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 per week
