Several roles are now available for Maintenance Fitters at our Steel Manufacturing plant at Waratah in Newcastle.

Hourly base wage rate including dirty work allowance $39.02-$44.03 depending on experience, plus 10% shift loading for certain rosters, and overtime also available. Potential to earn up to $120k

Variety of shift patterns available including:

- 4 x 9.5 hour shift work roster with 1 Saturday in every 3 (get a 5 day weekend every 3 weekends)
- Monday to Friday day shift with one RDO per month
- Regular overtime also available

Reporting to a Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader, our Fitters are responsible for assisting the company to achieve environmental, quality and production targets through the maintenance and repair of industrial plant and equipment. This includes:

- Equipment diagnosis and fault finding;
- Preventative maintenance activities;
- Safely executing breakdown equipment repairs;
- Simple mechanical planning;
- Data capture in CMMS (asset management software); and
- Working closely with other trade disciplines and operators.

There are also opportunities to develop on the job including formal skills training plus experience in project and shutdown planning and execution.

We need you to have:

- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding;
- Experience working with hydraulics and pneumatics;
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces;
- Effective communication skills;
- Experience working in an industrial maintenance environment;
- A formal qualification in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (minimum of Certificate III);
- An understanding of reliability/engineering strategies such as condition monitoring and preventative maintenance and have a positive can-do attitude; and
- Demonstrated commitment to working safely and leading by example.
