**About this role**

The Data Analyst is responsible for protecting the validity and accuracy of clinical morbidity data sets that will increase the ability of St Andrew's Hospital to support new initiatives via improved responsiveness of routine and ad-hoc data requests. Whilst reporting directly to the Clinical Information Manager the role will also work closely with the Clinical Costing Analyst.

Key focus areas will be on the Clinical Documentation Improvement program and utilising clinical costing and coding data for targeting audit documentation and monitoring outcomes in terms of financial impact. Other duties and responsibilities include:

- Use business intelligence software to automate and develop processes to monitor and manage data integrity across St Andrew's databases
- Use information obtained from a variety of sources to undertake data analysis, integration and presentation of data for routine and ad-hoc data reporting
- Participate in the design, implementation and testing of best practice systems, processes and standards used for extraction, manipulation and reporting
- Use innovative techniques to prepare documentation, presentations, and reports that translate complex statistical information in ways that make it accessible and understandable to a variety of audiences
- Review of data matching and liaison with Health Funds to improve and reduce billing anomalies

**About you**
- Experience in the extraction, manipulation, analysis, interpretation of data sourced from various platform
- Ability to identify and analyse clinical coded data problems and trends and formulate and implement appropriate actions
- Experience and knowledge of benchmark techniques, analysis and preparation of reports
- Ability to conceptualise health insurance and casemix funding principles
- Ability to effectively communicate with a range of people, and present training and education sessions to a wide range of stakeholders
