About the Business Unit
The Justice Assurance and Review Office (JARO) is a business unit in the Integrity, Legal and Law Reform (ILLR) group which operates as an internal review and assurance function to advise the Secretary, Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) on the performance of the youth justice and corrections systems. JARO exists separately and independently from the department's Youth Justice group and Corrections Victoria, and acts as an additional line of defence against emerging and enduring risk within each system.
About the Role
As the Review and Support Officer, key responsibilites include:

- Coordinate and track all outgoing information requests, stakeholder notifications and other administrative duties as required. This includes monitoring the JARO inbox and liaising with stakeholders such as Corrections Victoria, Youth Justice, Community Correctional Services, Justice Health and the Coroners Court of Victoria.
- Under the guidance of Review Officers, support the preparation of timely, high-quality reports, briefings and correspondence on the findings of assessments, death reviews, incident reviews and thematic reviews.
- Prepare, collate and update information relevant to JARO assessment and review activities, including but not limited to death reviews, reviews of major incidents in the youth justice and corrections systems and thematic reviews.
- Develop an understanding of risk-based methodologies and the JARO Risk Assessment Framework to identify risks to, and improvements in, the youth justice and corrections systems.

About you
- Experience working in the criminal justice system is desirable, in particular youth justice and/or corrections.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and information management systems.
