**About the Role**:
As an Aboriginal Support Worker with Duacare Support Solutions, you will play a pivotal role in connecting with clients, their families, and the wider community. Drawing on your lived experience and cultural insight, you will help guide individuals through challenges, advocate for their needs, and support them in achieving both short
- and long-term goals. Your work will directly contribute to building healthier, more resilient communities.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Client Engagement**: Establish and nurture positive relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, their families, and carers, promoting engagement with our support services.
- **Empowerment & Advocacy**: Use your lived experience and cultural understanding to empower clients, providing motivation and practical advice to facilitate positive change.
- **Resource Navigation**: Assist clients in accessing appropriate health, legal, social, and community services through effective assessment and referrals.
- **Holistic Support**: Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to deliver culturally safe support that addresses the unique challenges faced by our clients.
- **Community Facilitation**: Support and potentially lead community initiatives and peer support groups to foster mutual aid and cultural healing.

**Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience**:

- **Educational Background**: A minimum qualification of Certificate III in a relevant health or community support field (or currently undertaking such qualifications) and/or at least one year of demonstrated experience in a related role.
- **Lived Experience**: Personal experience with health or social challenges that allows you to connect authentically with clients.
- **Cultural Competence**: A strong understanding of the social, cultural, and health issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with the ability to work respectfully within community and kinship systems.
- **Communication Skills**: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to engage sensitively and effectively with diverse groups.
- **Independence & Teamwork**: Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, while maintaining high standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
- **Cultural Safety**: A commitment to upholding culturally safe practices and maintaining appropriate boundaries in all client interactions.

**Desirable Attributes**:

- Experience in the healthcare or community support sector, particularly with clients facing complex health and social needs.
- Accredited training or certifications in drug and alcohol management, counselling, or related areas would be an advantage.
