**About the Role**:
The role will support senior team members in reviewing proposals such as Precinct Structure Plans and major transport projects to ensure the future transport system will be able to meet the needs of all users. With a key focus on transport and landuse planning in greenfields, the role makes recommendations on the scope and scale of future transport infrastructure ultimately and ensures adequate provisions are made to build these important future projects.

**As a Transport Planner, you will**:

- Evaluate state significant landuse proposals and accompanying transport assessments and form a view on whether the Department, as the State Authority responsible for Transport, is satisfied with the transport outcomes that would result.
- Contribute to meetings, workshops and Panel Hearings as part of the formal planning processes such as those relating to Planning Scheme Amendments and Environmental Effects Statements.
- Ensure that broader State Transport objectives are adequately considered through Structure Plans and externally prepared transport plans and advocacy documents.
- Review major transport driven landuse proposals at areas such as Melbourne Airport, Intermodal Freight Terminals, Ports and Transport Precincts.
- Review the scope of future major projects and provide advice on the network outcomes the Department seeks the projects to achieve.
- Assist with project managing transport studies to determine the best future configuration, constraints and land-take of State transport corridors.
- Work closely with key stakeholders such as Councils to align future transport network priorities, functions and review and develop network-wide plans that consider all modes.

Mandatory Qualifications and experience
- A relevant tertiary degree such as Planning, Economics or Engineering is required.
