Australia is a priority market for HSBC’s Global Banking business and the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) client base comprises top tier public and private institutional relationships with a primary focus across banks, brokers, insurance, other financial and public sector clients across Australia, Asia, US and Europe. The client portfolio is geographically diverse, demanding the highest level of tailored global solutions and support.
Taking on the role of Associate Director, you will work closely with the Head of FIG Australia, helping to develop strategy and lead the business’s growth journey, playing an integral part in client engagement through your ability to analyse financial statements, understand regulatory capital into financial models and client presentations. In this unique role, you will also have the opportunity to develop your own portfolio of clients. With exposure to HSBC’s global network, the career opportunities are endless.

**Your main responsibilities will include**:

- Working as a Global Relationship Banker/Global Account Managers/Global Account Partner to develop and grow profitable long-term relationships with key allocated clients within Sector.
- Executing Global Banking strategy to grow revenues across your allocated portfolio, and successfully defending/serving existing business in addition to originate new value added revenue streams in region while ensuring that credit exposure and associated systemic risks are appropriately monitored, controlled and mitigated.
- Actively developing, managing and coordinating relationships with GAPs in the region and globally, acting as the central point of contact for GAPs, clients and product groups for the Sector.
- Acting as the centre of excellence to develop, implement and promote business strategy and risk management initiatives for the Sector in the region, and provide strategic input to senior management.

Requirements

**To be successful in this role you will need**:

- Significant existing experience in a related field such as another bank, finance, operations investment team or treasury function, ready to take the next step with the motivation to grow your career.
- A strong understanding of complex financial concepts, build financial models and translate this into PowerPoint presentations.
- Knowledge of financial structures and the external regulatory/industry environment.
- Sound understanding of due diligence, risk identification and mitigation activities.
- Track record building strong connections with clients, understand their pain points and position HSBC as a solution provider.
- Ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.
- Strong communications skills, both verbally and in writing with a variety of audiences, enabling you to build effective relationships and exercise influence both internally and externally.
- An understanding of risk management and risk mitigation.
- A team focus, able to share and express ideas openly, while appreciating other points of view.
- Proactively to participate in and promote local, regional and global initiatives.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
