Position Overview:
Working in the Workplace Governance Compliance and Risk team, as part of the Government Solutions division, Verra Mobility is currently hiring a **Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Coordinator**. reporting to and supporting the Director Workplace Governance, Compliance and Risk.

This role will play a key role in supporting the ongoing development and implementation of our inclusive, behaviour based and ISO 45001 Certified WHS Management System in our Asia Pacific Operation, building and maintaining strong and cooperative internal and external relationships to promote and integrate WHS into the way we work.

Essential Responsibilities:

- Supporting ongoing implementation, development and compliance of our Certified ISO45001 Safety Management System including monitoring, management, identification and implementation of the region’s regulatory and contractual WHS requirements.
- Assisting with the management of WHS incidents and Hazards to ensure they are managed, escalated and resolved in accordance with regulatory, contractual and WHS Management System requirements.
- Support/conduct investigations into workplace safety incidents and hazard reports and the development/implementation of safety risk controls.
- Promote the integration of a positive WHS risk and behaviour-based approach and culture into everyday work and business activities in the region (including working collaboratively within all areas of the organisation to identify opportunities to improve the WHS culture).
- Support the implementation of WHS compliance, objectives and targets to ensure continuous improvement to reduce workplace harm and injuries and their impact on our people and APAC operations.
- Assist with identification of opportunities to develop WHS programs/activities and the APAC WHS Management System to provide employees and contractors with a safe place of work, contribute to a reduction in the human and financial cost of work-related incidents/injuries and foster a positive WHS culture in the workplace.
- Creation, delivery and coordination of the regions WHS Training to ensure currency and compliance with identified WHS skills, certifications and qualifications within our workforce and under regulatory or contractual requirements. Support the development and implementation of WHS training programs/requirements and initiatives to ensure our people are adequately trained and educated including the provision or organising of relevant WHS training.
- Conduct internal audits/inspections to verify APAC WHS systems, policies and practices conform to requirements, are effectively implemented and maintained.
- Provide specialist advice to our people and managers on the WHS legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

- 5 years’ experience in operational WHS in a mid-sized or large organisation.
- Operational experience, knowledge and understanding of the Australian Workplace Health and Safety regulatory framework.
- Relevant vocational or tertiary qualification in WHS or equivalent previous experience in a similar role.
- Experience/qualifications in hazard and incident report analysis, investigation and resolution.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment and support achievement of operational objectives.
- The ability to liaise with and influence a range of stakeholders and develop collaborative working relationships.
- Sensitivity and resilience in dealing with difficult workplace situations and an ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.
- Organisational and planning skills with attention to detail, including the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Desirable - Experience in delivery of WHS related training.
