Village & Aerodrome Superintendent

With an expected mine life of 30+ years, it will underpin a long-term iron ore business and provide sustainable benefits to the regional community in which we operate. The operation includes a large open pit mine, complex ore processing and beneficiation plant and significant infrastructure and logistics networks.

We are seeking an experienced & highly capable **Village & Aerodrome Superintendent** with a strong focus and passion for providing the best experience possible for our employees, contractors and visitors at Karara mine site.

This is a fully autonomous role reporting to the Group Manager Human Resources & Services and is primarily responsible for effectively managing the contracts and services relating to the management of the Karara camp and aerodrome.

To be considered for this role applicants must be able to demonstrate strong commercial acumen and highly effective people management and relationship building skills. Applicants with solid background in camp/aviation management and experience in contract negotiation and management will be highly regarded.

This position is based at the Karara Mine Site and operates on a **5 days on 2 days off and 4 days on 3 days off** roster.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Effective management of service contractors and proactive issue resolution on all matters relating to Village and charter services management
- Prepare annual budgets and business plans for Village (Flights and Accommodation) and Aerodrome function
- Develop and implement initiatives and programs that improve the experience of the Karara camp residents
- Build effective relationships and liaise closely with site leaders and key stakeholders to understand the short, medium & long term requirements in Village services according to operation needs
- Proactively monitor, measure, communicate and report issues, opportunities, risks, service levels, and achievements in relation to the function
- Effectively manage, coach, develop and mentor direct reports
- Drive a positive workplace culture
- Actively identify continuous improvement opportunities or capital expenditure initiatives in village and aerodrome.
- Ensure legislative and regulatory compliance by working closely with operational business partners.

**Essential Qualifications and Experience**:

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with stakeholders at all levels
- Tertiary qualification in Business/Commerce or related field
- WA C Class Driver’s License
- Cert IV in Health & Safety (desirable)
- Experience in a similar role and team management experience in the provision of multidiscipline services within the mining or related industry
- Aerodrome management experience (desirable)
- Demonstrated knowledge, experience and understanding of legislative provisions governing site operations and services
- Strong commercial acumen with well-developed financial and budgeting skills
- Demonstrated contract management and negotiation skills
- Business and financial planning and reporting
- Australian Citizenship or hold a valid visa with permission to work
- National Police clearance
