**The role**

We are currently seeking a **National Sector Leader - IV & Construction Services. **The person will be responsible for providing operational direction to the activities in our Roads & Highways sector in collaboration with the other market sector leaders and in consideration of the wider SMEC business.

This position ensures the operational and technical excellence and performance of the IV & Construction Services sector with the effect of growing the SMEC Infrastructure function through optimal people, commercial, business development, client relationship management and project performance.

With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will a passion for building trusted relationships with both clients and contractors to successfully deliver Certification / Verification projects.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Provide operational, technical and business development direction for the IV & Construction Services sector to support SMEC’s vision and values;
- Manage the National financial targets of the Market Sector and the achievement of the National Market Sector operational plans;
- Ensure capability development and mobilisation of IV & Construction Services sector resources nationally to support SMEC’s overall business objectives;
- Manage national client relationships.

**Suitable applicants will have/be**:

- Bachelors Degree (Engineering) accepted by IEAust
- Eligible for Chartered Professional Engineer IEAust or equivalent
- You'll have strong experience and knowledge in Certification/Verification roles and will be well respected by Australia’s major Transport Corporations/Agencies as well as all major Contractors.

**EXPERIENCE**

You will have extensive industry experience, is recognised as an authority in the sector, and demonstrated ability to consistently:

- Manage large scale multi-disciplinary projects successfully, to budget and client specifications
- Build trusting and productive client relationships
- Produce tender/proposal documents of an excellent standard and in a timely manner;
- Manage a team effectively for high performance and cohesion

**SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE**
- Thorough understanding of the external market and skills to translate this knowledge to strategies, projects and people.
- High level communication skills, including negotiating and resolving highly complex commercial, technical and people matters.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and theories and capacity for continuous learning.
- Ability to lead and manage multi-disciplinary teams across multiple locations.
- Actively participates in industry forums and workshops.
- Strong leadership and motivational ability.
- Analytical, conceptual and creative thinking, coupled with customer orientation, proven management skills and commercial and business awareness.
