About the job

The Peer Work Placement Coordinator is a lived experience leadership role which will manage and administer the Pilot Placement Program for students of the Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work within Orygen’s clinical services.

Reporting to the Head of Lived Experience you will:

- Lead and Coordinate: Drive the development and delivery of Orygen’s Peer Work Placement Program, ensuring alignment with national training requirements and Orygen’s Lived Experience Workforce Framework.
- Support and Supervise: Provide ongoing individual supervision, co-reflection, and strengths-based feedback to Peer Work students throughout their placement journey.
- Engage Stakeholders: Collaborate with training providers, placement site leaders, and lived experience leads to create meaningful and supportive placement experiences.
- Build Culture and Capacity: Champion lived expertise as valuable knowledge and identify new opportunities for placement expansion within Orygen services.
- Monitor and Report: Track program outcomes, ensure compliance, maintain accurate records, and contribute to ongoing program evaluation and improvement.

Skills and experience

The following criteria must be met for consideration for this position:

- Personal lived experience of mental ill health and an understanding, ability, and willingness to use this lived experience within their work.
- Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work or Intentional Peer Support (IPS) Core Training or a willingness to complete either.
- and Demonstrated experience in providing peer support in a mental health setting
- A minimum of two years’ experience working in a lived experience role and Proven experience in supervising peer workers, with a strong understanding of peer work principles and a passion for empowering students and emerging peer professionals.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders, co-facilitate training, and contribute to inclusive, recovery-oriented practice.
- Highly organised and adaptable, able to prioritise tasks, problem-solve creatively, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
