About the role
Reporting to a Principal Solicitor, the Paralegal is a member of a team who contributes administrative, research and other support functions to the full range of services provided by the EPA's Legal Branch. You will use your initiative, judgement, and communication skills to deliver high quality paralegal services, aligned to EPA's strategic priorities. This is an exciting role for a motivated paralegal that wants to contribute to the success of the EPA as it enters a new era of environmental protection in Victoria. You will actively contribute to a positive organisational culture and achieve the highest standards of performance and integrity whist gaining experience in a multi-disciplinary legal practice.
- You will undertake a wide range of work across disciplines and within both units of the legal team which is made is made up of the Investigations Support and Prosecutions Unit and the Civil Litigation and Advice Unit
- You will actively contribute to a positive organisational culture and achieve the highest standards of performance and integrity

About you
Being motivated to be hands on, having a ‘can do' attitude and relishing a challenge and exposure to a broad range of matters and responsibilities you will have the ability to deliver high-quality paralegal services and contribute to operational planning by sharing knowledge and expertise. You will have the opportunity to work across criminal and civil matters and to contribute to the success of those units. You should have the ability to conduct legal research, analyse results, investigate options, prepare draft reports and briefings within a project or policy framework. You should also be able to draft and review legal documents using the existing procedures. You will also have the ability to, or willingness to learn, assist in the preparation of briefs (including briefs of evidence), memoranda, associated court documents, maintain databases and monitoring court hearings and other due dates. You will possess the proven ability to work as an effective member of a cohesive team, with a demonstrated commitment to the successful delivery of the highest organisational priorities. You will be able to think outside the square, have a willingness to try new things and a genuine desire to learn, share knowledge and make a difference. A relevant tertiary degree and/or post graduate qualifications in law is desirable and experience and a record of achievement providing paralegal services, preferably in Government, would be advantageous.
