
Support Teacher

Known locally as Student Success Mentor you will provide intensive 1:1 and small group curriculum (literacy and numeracy) support to prioritised students in years 7 to 11 at Kenmore State High School who have significant barriers to their learning success, and are disengaged from school.
The successful applicant would be required to work with our Wellbeing Team (Heads of Year and Guidance Officers) as part of a collaborative and multi-disciplinary team, using a case management model that involves identifying and understanding the student's needs or barriers in accessing learning and developing appropriate solutions.
Upper Primary and Middle School Teachers are encouraged to apply.
**Support for students can include**:
- Establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents and other - teaching staff to focus on student learning, wellbeing and engagement
- Identifying the literacy and numeracy requirements of students with complex learning needs and supporting them to complete assessment tasks
- Differentiating teaching practice, for example scaffolding tasks to meet the students at their point of need
- Goal setting and student self-tracking strategies
- Tracking and monitoring student progress

- A growth mindset
- Curriculum and pedagogical knowledge to target students' learning needs and differentiate teaching to support students at their point of need
- Knowledge and understanding of wellbeing and engagement impacts on learning
- Foster positive learning relationships with students
