About the role

Reporting to the Offender Development Manager, and working collaboratively with the Health team, you will be responsible for providing therapeutic and practical interventions to understand the issues that led to imprisonment and to challenge offending behaviours via the attainment of sustainable protective factors - within and beyond custody.
You will provide specialised intervention services to address the needs of prisoners, including trauma, homelessness and substance abuse. You will work closely with custodial and program delivery staff, as well as Serco’s community partners, as an intervention specialist to ensure that case management of individual prisoners are initiated and maintained.

About You

You are a skilled and passionate person who is passionate about promoting the rehabilitation and reintegration of prisoners into the community. You have a positive ‘can do’ attitude with strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to be a strong team player. You have very good report writing skills, in the preparation of defendable documentation and research data. You have empathy and an ability to negotiate and resolve issues and demonstrate exceptional moral values in all that you do.

**To be successful in this role, you will have**: The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour. Current registration as a Social Worker with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Demonstrated experience in working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team in the provision of services and programs within a correctional, welfare of institutional setting. Experience in group facilitation, ideally dealing with complex mental and behavioural issues. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of a Social Worker ethical and legal obligations and professional accountability Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of contemporary correctional concepts, principles and practices.

This is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment, which includes a national police check as an essential selection component for this role.
