**About the Role**
As a Social Worker - Attendance Outreach, you will play a vital role in the newly established Directorate, focusing on student attendance reforms. You will be involved in the implementation of a key initiative aimed at enhancing services and support for students in partnership with families, schools, and communities. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to positive change and provide increased support to schools and families.

The Attendance Outreach service will be piloted over 12 months to follow up on students who are persistently absent from school. This will include supporting schools with monitoring and tracking of students who are absent from school with a record of 80% or more of unauthorised absences.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Work closely with schools to share responsibility for students with mínimal attendance, reducing administrative burden on schools while ensuring appropriate follow-up and support.
- Conduct outreach activities to engage with students, families, and communities, aiming to identify underlying factors affecting attendance and provide necessary interventions.
- Utilise social work skills and expertise to assess and address individual and family contexts that may impact student attendance.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement tailored strategies and support plans for students at risk of persistent absenteeism.
- Provide guidance, resources, and training to school staff to build their capacity in monitoring and addressing attendance issues.
- Maintain accurate records, documentation, and reports related to attendance outreach activities and interventions.

**Requirements**:

- An appropriate degree or equivalent which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
- Demonstrated experience working in the field of student support, attendance, or related areas.
- Ability to engage effectively with students, families, and communities, demonstrating empathy, cultural sensitivity, and strong communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and establish positive working relationships with stakeholders.
- Experience in conducting assessments, developing support plans, and providing interventions for individuals and families.

**Special Conditions**
The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry. The incumbent will be required to undertake RRHAN -EC (Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect - Education Care) Facilitator Lead (Masterclass) extended course or the online (Fundamentals) course which will be required to be updated every three years.

AHP2: $85,665 - $99,241 per annum plus superannuation (will be adjusted to the actual hours worked)
AHP3: $101,124 - $108,467 per annum plus superannuation (will be adjusted to the actual hours worked)
