The Strategy, Policy and Evaluation team within Science Development is responsible for the development and evaluation of science policy, administration and review of legislation, and advising on key aspects of Queensland's scientific infrastructure and capability. The team administers the Biodiscovery Act 2004 and the Gene Technology Act (Queensland) Act 2016.

The Strategy, Policy and Evaluation team is seeking two Principal Policy Officers (AO7s) to support the team in the development and evaluation of science policy, administration and review of legislation, and advising on key aspects of Queensland's scientific infrastructure and capability.

**The Principal Policy Officers will**:

- manage science projects and policy initiatives and provide advice to senior management and external clients on a range of matters including legislation, regulation, policy and projects.
- conduct research and analysis to interpret complex science-related issues arising in projects or policy initiatives and communicate findings and options to senior management and other stakeholders.
- provide high level research, advice and organisational support and contribute to planning by providing input into the development of work plans, and by providing advice on priorities and strategies for monitoring progress and achieving required outcomes.
- initiate and prepare well researched reports, briefings, submissions and correspondence on complex science-related matters and develop networks and relationships with internal and external stakeholders, clients including government agencies, research and industry organisations, and business to deliver outcomes.
- foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations peoples and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for First Nations peoples.
