**About the Critical Minerals Independent Technical Panel**:
The Australian Government is committed to developing Australia’s critical minerals sector. This includes helping facilitate new critical minerals mining and processing projects that create jobs and encourage investment in regional Australia.

The Government’s critical minerals agenda encompasses support for the sector through research and development, project and financing facilitation, and streamlined regulatory approvals.

The Critical Minerals Independent Technical Panel was established to provide advice to the Department of Industry, Science, and Resources (the Department) on:

- Options to accelerate development of Australia’s critical minerals industry; and
- The technical and commercial merits of specific critical minerals projects and the broader benefits to Australia and industry that could be unlocked by those projects.

Drawing on their expertise and experience, the Panel will also provide advice and feedback to critical minerals proponents to help maximise and articulate the economic and strategic benefits of their projects.

The Department is seeking to fill two vacancies on the Panel. A member’s appointment is for 12 months. Panel members will be required to attend meetings arranged by the Department.

**What you will do**:
The Panel is responsible for providing expert, independent and timely advice to the Department on a range of issues relating to the critical minerals sector. This may include:

- Markets - critical minerals supply chains, customer base, concentration/choke-points, international context and broader strategic issues
- Finance - project financing, capital markets, risk and commercial considerations
- Project delivery - planning and establishing challenging mining and processing operations
- Mining and processing technology - geology, resource technology and processing challenges.
- Technology and innovation - emerging markets, disruptive technologies, critical technology

**Eligibility**:
Panel members are required to disclose and declare their interests and comply with all relevant probity requirements.

Panel members will be expected to undertake measures to ensure the appropriate handling, use and disclosure of information relating to their participation on the Panel, including commercial-in-confidence information, including potentially signing non-disclosure agreements.

**Notes**:
Panel members will be remunerated as non-government members and paid at a rate consistent with comparable offices as set out by the Remuneration Tribunal. Reasonable costs associated with members’ participation on the Panel, including reimbursing travel expenses, will be paid by the Department.
