**About our opportunity**

Our Disaster Management Training and Development officer is responsible for coordinating the delivery of Council's disaster management training to ensure the Council, Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) and key stakeholders meet legislative requirements which ensures the delivery of disaster management outcomes and builds safer and more resilient communities.

In this position you will be acting as the key point of contact and specialist for the delivery of disaster and business continuity training and development framework across all Council frontline services.

You will be required to:

- develop and implement complex training and exercise plans while ensuring Council's legislative requirements are met
- deliver disaster management training activities including classroom training, offside training, table top exercises and field exercises to ensure compliance with Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) training policies and procedures and relevant Queensland Disaster Management Training Framework (QDMTF) guidelines
- coordinate and undertake training needs analysis and quality assurance of ongoing Council, LDMG and community training
- support the delivery of community education in coordination with the Disaster Resilience and Recovery Coordinator

You will also be required build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including QFES, Queensland Police Service, Inspector-General Emergency Management and other local governments to ensure service deliverables and outcomes are achieved.

**_ Please note:_**_ this position will require the successful applicant to provide an all-hours response in times of emergency and carry out regular on call duties as an escalation officer and as a secondary role, must be prepared to fulfil a Room Manager role within the LDCC during times of event response or disaster._

**About you**

To be successful in this position you will have demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex training events to deliver operational maintenance, comprehensive knowledge of AFES training policies and procedures and relevant QDMTF guidelines and extensive experience of delivering training in disaster or crisis management - including development and implementation of training, exercise plans and activities. You will also have extensive experience operating in an Australian emergency management/disaster management environment and working knowledge of the Australasian Inter-service Incident Management System (AIIMS)

You will also have strong time management skills, the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines, ability to work under pressure and excellent presentation and both written and verbal communication skills with the ability to drive engaged and constructive outcomes with stakeholders.

Paired with the above listed experience you will also possess a current C class drivers license, a current working with children card (WWCC) for child related employment from Blue Card Services, a Degree in Emergency Management (highly regarded) _or_ extensive experience in a relevant field. Additionally you will have a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or superseded equivalent qualification (highly regarded) or have willingness to obtain.
