**About the role**

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the success of the Viertel Cancer Research Centre (VCRC) and its world-leading cancer research programs and external grant funding program.

As Administration Officer, Research you will be responsible for providing administrative support and assistance within the VCRC, performing a range of tasks, including arranging meetings and travel; facilitating invoicing and payments; providing administrative support to the Head of Research and Senior Managers in the VCRC; and assisting the Manager, Research Operations with administrative operations of the VCRC and the delivery of CCQ’s external research funding schemes.

This role is a Fixed-Term, Part-Time role for 2 years, working 20 hours a week across 5 days to cover business requirements. The role is based in our Fortitude Valley office in Brisbane.

**About you**

To be successful in this role, you will have substantive experience in providing high-level administrative support and hands-on experience with scientific research processes, and experience working in a research support environment either at a university or within a research institute or centre.

Your high level of accuracy and attention to detail will see you succeed in the role. You will have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with strict deadlines and without compromising on service delivery. You will have a current driver’s licence.

**Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills**

**Essential Skills**:

- A minimum of two years’ experience in an administrative role.
- Demonstrated experience in providing high-level administrative support in a research environment
- Well-developed computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and information management systems.

**Desirable Skills**:

- Completion of a diploma-level qualification or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Experience using Grant Management Systems (e.g. NHMRC Sapphire); financial accounting systems; and Content Management Systems (e.g. WordPress)
