Applications are invited for the part-time (4 days per week) ongoing position of Community Events and Marketing Manager in the office of Dr Sophie Scamps MP, based in Narrabeen, Sydney NSW.

This exciting opportunity is for an enthusiastic person with strong strategic, communication and organisational skills to join the team. The position requires the ability to think creatively, anticipate needs and work with key stakeholders and team members with a high level of professionalism. This position requires a high degree of versatility, the ability to work under pressure, maintain confidentiality and maintain the highest ethical standards.

The key objective of this role is to develop and implement a Community Engagement and Marketing Strategy, including organising events to engage the Mackellar community. The role also involves management of print and outdoor advertising, surveys and electorate mail outs to ensure timely communications with the Mackellar electorate.

**Key accountabilities of the position include, however are not limited to**:
**Community Engagement and Events**
- Develop the Mackellar Community Engagement Strategy - strategise, plan and coordinate community engagement events - in response to community and strategic priorities.
- Maintain a Community Engagement Calendar in conjunction with the Member, Chief of staff and relevant team members.
- Ensure sophisticated use of technology to drive community engagement work.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, volunteers and other key stakeholders.
- Manage the Events Inbox, ensuring timely responses.
- Manage a team of volunteers to coordinate and execute events.
- Create and implement event plans and run sheets and distribute to relevant team members and stakeholders.
- Invite and liaise with speakers and stakeholders.
- Organise venue/room bookings, insurance, catering, AV, videography and photography, performances, room set-up and pack down, cleaning etc.
- Manage RSVPs and ticketing using NationBuilder or Humanitix.
- Liaise with Volunteer Manager to ensure timely training and scheduling of volunteers for events.
- Manage guestlists and post-event communications.

**Marketing**
- Develop a 6-month Community Engagement Marketing/Advertising Strategy
- Management of print and digital outdoor advertising, including design and content production, according to budget
- Ensure events are promoted in a timely manner on social media
- Ensure events are communicated in the fortnightly newsletter
- Ensure the Digital Media and Communications Officer attends events to take photos for social media and newsletters
- Develop relevant surveys, ensuring efficient data collection and feedback to the community
- Develop marketing collateral including electorate wide mail outs, flyers, promotional materials
- Oversee website content updates for community events on NationBuilder
- Develop community events collateral using Canva
- Travel to events and engagements with the Member as required (evening and weekend engagements as required)
- Other tasks as directed

**The ideal applicant should possess the following skills and experience**:

- Demonstrated experience working in a political, community, or similar organisation, with preference for previous experience working in a Member’s office
- Ability to communicate effectively and competently liaise with stakeholders and the community, including varied constituencies
- Demonstrated experience in working in a high-pressure environment and to be an effective collaborator as part of a team
- Demonstrated professional integrity and the ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Proven reliability in meeting deadlines and commitments especially in high pressure situations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated experience in developing and evaluating marketing strategies
- Ability to use digital and online editing and content production tools, including Adobe Suite, Canva or similar
- Ability to develop and deliver print and digital communications campaigns
- Excellent time management and organisation skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage competing deadlines
- Demonstrated experience in managing events will be highly regarded
- Demonstrated understanding of community priorities the Mackellar electorate is highly desirable

**Employment conditions**:
The position is offered under the Members of Parliament (Staff) Act 1984and conditions are outlined in the Commonwealth Members of Parliament Staff Enterprise Agreement 2020-23which include:

- A commencing salary between $69,170 and $80,757 (pro rata to the part-time arrangement), depending on experience and relevant skills.
- An optional allowance may be considered in recognition of, and as compensation for reasonable additional hours of work.
- An employer contribution of 15.4% superannuation.
