- Applicants must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and hold a current annual practising certificate. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
- It is an express condition of employment for all people who are to perform roles with direct patient contact to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following infectious diseases during their employment; Diphtheria; Tetanus; Pertussis; Hepatitis B; Measles, Mumps, Rubella; Varicella. Please note, there may be additional vaccination requirements depending on individual circumstances.
- Possession of a Nurse Immuniser qualification or working towards this qualification is required.
- Whilst not mandatory, a postgraduate qualification in infection control or a related field is highly desirable.
- Recent experience in an Infection Prevention and Control Unit will be highly regarded.
- Membership of a relevant professional body will be highly regarded.
- On rare occasions the position may require participation in shift work (including weekends), on-call duties and undertake reasonable overtime.
- Applicants will be assessed on their ability to demonstrate a range of key personal qualities, capabilities, experience, and knowledge within the context of the roles and responsibilities of the Domains of Practice and Specialist Clinical Knowledge:

- Demonstrate a advanced standard of clinical expertise. Accountable for own competence and clinical knowledge; utilises effective assessment, planning and implementation skills to deliver and evaluate safe, quality person centred care including critical thinking and decision making.
**Domain 2**: Support of Systems
- Demonstrate knowledge of commitment to quality processes including policies, guidelines and evidence-based practices. Participates in incident management resulting in patient safety and quality improvements.
**Domain 3**: Education
- Demonstrate ongoing learning and professional development to provide safe, quality person centred care including health education to members of the QAS workforce.
**Domain 4**: Research
**Domain 5**: Professional Leadership
- Demonstrate clinical leadership in the coordination and provision of patient centred care and best practice outcomes.
- Demonstrate collaborative teamwork and decision making, empathy, integrity and respect for all patients, carers, and staff.
- Demonstrating a logical and flexible approach and remaining outcome focused when resolving issues.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise staff.
**Clinical/Specialist/Technical Knowledge**:
- Demonstrate effective coordination with high level oversight of the infection control program including resource planning, development, and maintenance of procedures consistent with current research, legislation, and other best practice standards.
- Highly developed communication skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in the cooperative planning and coordination of infection control programs and to drive change where appropriate.
- Demonstrated advanced theoretical knowledge of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases, epidemiological principles, surveillance methodology and process in line with relevant legislation to achieve best practice patient care outcomes.
