THE ROLE
The Manager, Aboriginal Community Engagement is a senior member of the Aboriginal Strategy Unit in the Policy and Design Branch in Family Safety Victoria. The Manager plays a key role in the provision of support and advice to support Dhelk Dja; Safe our Way - Strong Cultures, Strong Peoples, Strong Families and its associated governance structures including the Dhelk Dja Partnership Forum, Koori Caucus, Sub Groups and Dhelk Dja Chairpersons. The role will build strong relationships across Aboriginal communities, Aboriginal services, Family Safety Victoria, Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) and other government departments to support outcomes in line with the Dhelk Dja 10 Year Agreement and its 3 Year Action Plans.
The Manager has responsibility for providing strategic leadership, coordination and operational support for Dhelk Dja Action Groups (formerly Indigenous Family Violence Regional Action Groups (IFVRAGs)), Regional Coordinators across Victoria and the Victorian Aboriginal Community Initiatives Fund. The Manager is responsible for leading a team of staff to implement the IFVRAG Review recommendations.

**To qualify for the Manager position, you must**:
- Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
- Be prepared to undertake a National Police History Check.
- Not have received a voluntary package from the Victorian Public Service in the last three years.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
1. Forge strong relationships with Aboriginal communities, Aboriginal services and organisations, government and non-government sectors to facilitate a partnership approach to achieving the strategic priorities outlined in the Dhelk Dja Agreement.
2. Provide facilitation, leadership and project management support to the Dhelk Dja Violence Partnership Forum and its other governance structures to strategically plan, design and implement specific actions and funding in the first Action Plan (2018-2021) aligned to the strategic priorities in the 10 Year Agreement, with a specific focus on the design and implementation of:
- Strategic Priority One: Aboriginal culture and leadership
- Strategic Priority Two: Aboriginal-led prevention
- The recommendations from the Review of Indigenous Family Violence Regional Action Groups
- Cascading regional Dhelk Dja Action Plans
3. Provide advice and support to Dhelk Dja Action Groups and Regional Coordinators including in the development and implementation of Dhelk Dja Action Plans by providing relevant information and support regarding Aboriginal issues at the local and regional levels and coordinate the development of solutions and responses to emerging issues at the statewide level.
