**The Role**
As Commercial Manager you will take on a leadership role within the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme - managing contracts, overseeing financial and participant administration, and driving business improvements to expand our world class youth development program - as we prepare to introduce a new, larger state-of-the-art sail training ship into service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead a small commercial and customer service team to achieve business outcomes
- Manage contracts, including planning and undertaking complex procurement to enhance capability
- Write policy documents, ministerial and decision briefs, board papers and other business documents, and contribute to strategic and business plans
**About our Team**
The Young Endeavour Youth Scheme (YEYS) is a Commonwealth program delivering world class development opportunities for young Australians aboard Sail Training Ship Young Endeavour.
Our integrated APS/ADF team is responsible for program development, youth crew selection and administration, marketing communication and partnerships, commercial operations, and governance. We also administer the YEYS Public Fund Trust.
YEYS works closely with Navy and Defence to deliver the Young Endeavour Program, support youth policy outcomes, maintain partnerships and build awareness of Navy in the community. We are currently dual focused - delivering a program of voyages around Australia, and preparing for expansion and introduction into service of a new, larger sail training ship. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to change management and business improvement initiatives in support of a leading youth development program.

- Demonstrate personal accountability, and a proven ability to manage competing priorities and achieve outcomes.
- Enjoy managing teams, including flexible/remote work, and be willing to support colleagues in a multidisciplinary team.
- Have a good level of digital literacy including with client relationship management and commercial systems.
- Possess excellent stakeholder engagement, customer service and communication skills.
- Have experience successfully developing and implementing business improvement plans, and managing teams through change.
While the role is primarily office based, YEYS supports flexible work arrangements that balance the needs of Defence, the employee and the team.
