Gower Street Kindergarten Inc. (GSK) prides itself on celebrating diversity, ability, and inclusion. By providing a flexible learning play environment, children from all backgrounds are given the opportunity to reach their individual potential. GSK celebrates diversity and welcomes children from all backgrounds and experiences. GSK opened in 1977, Gower Street is a purpose-built kindergarten. The environment has been designed to provide children with many different learning opportunities. Both the indoor and outdoor areas are large, and children can play without encroaching on each other’s space. The settings and materials are changed gradually throughout the years to provide children with new challenges.

**Hours of Work of the Role**

15 hours session and 7.5 non contact time. Total 22.5 Hours p/w. All other entitlement allocations in line with VECTEA 2020

**Description**
- Please note that Gower Street Kindergarten is closed for the school holidays and will re-open on Tuesday 22nd April. For a position description please contact the office after this time. Our staff will be able to attend to all queries upon return. The objectives of the position are as follows:

- Develop and provide a high-quality, developmentally appropriate educational program (based on an approved curriculum framework) for the children at Gower Street Kindergarten Inc. in consultation with the Committee of Management (the “employer”) and the parents of children attending Gower Street Kindergarten Inc_._
- To create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for children of all abilities and from diverse backgrounds.
- Provide educational leadership while working as a member of a collaborative service team.
- Operate professionally at all times and ensure that the service meets the requirements of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (DEECD) _Kindergarten Guide_; _Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010_; _Education and Care Services National Regulations, _Department of Human Services
- Child Safe Standards and functions in line with the Strategic Plan, approved policies, procedures and the Quality Improvement Plan of Gower Street Kindergarten Inc.

**Qualifications**

**Essential requirements**
- Qualifications suitable for an early childhood teacher under the _Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010_, _Education and Care Services National Regulations _and the DEECD _Kindergarten Guide_
- Be registered as a teacher with the Victorian Institute of Teaching from 30 September 2016, and continue to renew/maintain the registration during the course of employment
- Must be able to fill the position of Nominated Supervisor as required under the _Education and Care Services National Regulations, or be nominated as a person in a leadership position or with responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the service._
- A current approved first aid qualification approved anaphylaxis management training and approved emergency asthma management training, in accordance with the _Education and Care Services National Regulations_ and service policies.
- The successful applicant must have a Victorian Institute of Teaching membership (this includes a Police Check)
