PRODUCTION
- Follow set production schedules and monitor productivity.
- Control breaks start and finish times of employees.
- Effectively communicate with follow up shifts to ensure a smooth workflow and change over.
- Complete and review defect log & Upload all job-related photos to system weekly.
- Maintain quality of production and assist with completion of CAR/NCR’s as required.
- Bring forward ideas for improvement that may come from staff or personal ideas.
- Be accountable for own time management by setting an example.
- Work with Production Manager and Supervisors toward preventative maintenance and improvements for production, plant, building, Health and Safety.
- Perform related work as required by Supervisor and assist elsewhere as required and qualified.
- Manage day to day production of teams & ensure that company SP’s, SWI’s and Special instructions are followed, which may be amended periodically.
- Maintain the daily cleanup of department to company 5S standards & attends all required meetings.
- Follow all safe working practices, utilising the correct PPE in accordance with the SDS sheets.
- Follow safe high-risk practices using forklifts and cranes (lifting plans and TAKE 2/5 to be done prior).
- Carries out all duties directed by the Service Supervisor in a safe and timely manner as per guidelines and procedures.
- Follow all SWI (shop work instructions), SP (standard procedures) and QAI work instructions (quality assurance instructions) as directed (Able to recognise quality deviations & faults).

STAFF & TRAINING
- Assist with personnel as it relates to disciplinary actions, attendance, schedules and staff requisition.
- Implementation and facilitation of Team Leader/Mentor Program.
- Assist with development and maintenance of staff Job Descriptions, Work Instructions and Work Plans and coordinate keeping these up to date with Supervisor.
- Coordinate and assist with staff training and ensure training documents are completed and filled.
- Implement and review practical training for identified training needs.
- Liaise with Supervisor regarding employee problems, complaints and grievances.
- Demonstrate equipment operations or work procedure to new employees or assign employees to experienced workers for training (Team Leader/mentor) & Review defect log with employees and train them.

SAFETY
- Attend Safety meetings as required.
- Follow and implement all Health & Safety regulations incl. Company Safety Procedures.
- Oversee safe work practices and use of Personal Protective Equipment.
- Report all accidents to the Supervisor take action to prevent re-occurrence and investigate for prevention.

PRODUCTION METHODOLOY
- Implement, train and maintain the Competitive Systems & Practices methodology (LEAN i.e. 5S, PPS, VMS & SIPOC) in department through Safety, Quality, Delivery & Cost.

MESABI® ASSEMBLY, PRODUCTION, REPAIRING AND DISPATCHING
- Assist with control of stock levels and WIP.
- Ensure that CAR/NCR’s are correctly investigated; Root cause determined, and Corrective action take place. Monitor CAR/NCR to prevent recurrence of Non-Conformities.
- Communicate with change-over shifts and update on WIP for smooth workflow.
- Report any maintenance to be performed on timely basis in department.
- Ensure timely manufacture of all products and direct day to day activity with TL.
- Ensure that all new and current employees are updated & trained to perform their duties using department and corporate procedures and work instructions. (SWI’s, SP’s, M-Spec’s and Special instructions)
- Assist with update and monitor staff training matrixes.
- Oversee test tank and testing.
- Responsible for maintaining painting quality.
- Responsible for completing production in Assembly or Overhaul department.
