**Position Overview**

- **Location**:WFH and designated sites within Cairns, QLD.
- **Remuneration**: SCHADS 4 ($43.51 - $46.81 p/hr + loading), 11.5% super. Salary packing available (up to $15,990).
- Shift options: 16:00 - 00:00 and 23:30 - 08:30.
- **Commencing**:09/12/2024
- **Paid induction training**:Week 1 Mon-Fri 9 am - 5 pm, Week 2 Mon - Fri buddy shifts. Please note that buddy shift allocation is based on current staff availability, therefore please ensure that you are available between 16:00 - 08:30

**Cairns (QLD) Response & Connection Practitioners **provide immediate assistance to victims/survivors referred to VoCCR by the QPS (Queensland Police Service) after experiencing an act of interpersonal violence. This role will deliver immediate trauma-informed support in the form of answering or triaging inbound calls with compassion, providing psychological first aid and emotional support through traditional CBT interventions such as mindfulness and grounding techniques for callers presenting in acute distress, undertaking risk and needs assessments, safety planning and guiding service users through warm referral pathways.

In-community Travel

At times, at the request of the victim and in consultation with the Team Leader, Response and Connection Practitioners will travel to designated locations within the Cairns, QLD area to offer in-person crisis support and, if required, coordinate essential practical needs such as emergency transport and accommodation, food, clothing, safety enhancements, and other forms of practical assistance.

**What you will bring**
- Diploma or tertiary qualification in any Community/Human Services related field accepted by DV Connect.
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in the social and community services sector, working with people who have been impacted by violence.
- A trauma-informed approach and work from an intersectional feminist framework and other relevant practice frameworks used to respond to victims of violent crime.
- Action tasks within agreed timeframes, including planning, implementation, and coordination of practical support or case management.
- Experience navigating sensitive situations calmly and professionally.
- Interpersonal, communication, consultation skills and ability to build, maintain, and enhance relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including both sector and non-sector partners.
- Knowledge and understanding of the Queensland Domestic Violence Legislation and Queensland criminal justice legislation, including victim of crime and child protection (or willingness to acquire).
- Cultural responsiveness and commitment to working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
- Valid (P) Blue Card
- Successfully obtain a National Police Check facilitated by DVConnect before commencing employment.
- Right to work in Australia.

In-community travel requirements:

- Own a reliable, insured vehicle (Please note that you will not be transporting clients).
- Strong NBN connection.
- Appropriate and private home office.
- Open and clear driver's license.
- Willingness to travel to Brisbane City, QLD for induction training (1 week).

**About the Victims of Community Crime Response (VoCCR) Service**

The Victims of Community Crime Response (VoCCR) service focuses on addressing current gaps faced by victim-survivors needing immediate practical support after experiencing an interpersonal violent crime. Our aim is to provide efficient short-term crisis assistance, such as coordinating emergency transport and accommodation and addressing basic needs, such as food, clothing, home safety upgrades and more, within the first 72 hours of the incident. We also provide warm referrals for long-term support, which may involve legal, health, financial, and housing support.
