We have an exciting opportunity for a
Construction Technical Manager
to join the KBR team in Adelaide. This role will be embedded with one of our
major clients, SA Water
- Working together with SA Water, our collective goal is to deliver an efficient capital program and infrastructure projects, safely, on time, within budget and to customer and community expectations. To do this we are working with SA Water and changing; by adapting a better, more sophisticated approach to how we plan, manage, and deliver the program.
The Construction Manager will ensure the new
Bolivar Wastewater Treatment Plant Inlet Works Upgrade
meets the required delivery outcomes and customer service level by supporting optimal construction delivery with regards to time, quality and cost through promotion of efficiency and innovation, safety and environmental best practice, including resource leadership, direction and capacity building.
The Bolivar WWTP Inlet Works Upgrade project is worth a value of approximately $65m. The project will construct a new inlet works infrastructure within the Bolivar WWTP (that services approximately 70% of metro Adelaide’s wastewater) and safely decommission the old infrastructure. This requires high risk, complex and detailed cutover plans to be implemented whilst maintaining a minimum capacity through the plant.
Based out of Bolivar WWTP and SA Water House
, this includes providing technical advice and guidance to the construction and project team on enabling works requirements, civil works, mechanical & electrical works and commissioning/handover process.
Further to this, the Construction Manager is responsible for the following;
Ensuring all quality requirements of the project are carried out by the contractor in accordance with the Technical Specification and relevant Technical/Australian standards and guidelines.
Manage complex technical evaluations and development of facility and asset performance management protocols for outcome and benefit realisation
Surveillance of overall Construction works in accordance with the Construction Method Statements and project requirements
Provide input and guidance to the Project team and Construction team on development of contingency management plans for safe works delivery
Ensure that the project complies with necessary internal and external standards, acts and regulations, guidelines and design requirements are met.
Ensure Environmental Contingency Plans are adhered to
Provide input to weekly planning meetings with Site Superintendent, Construction team and Operators
Work with the Senior Project Manager to ensure project risks and opportunities are identified and assessed and necessary actions are taken.
Review of project activities against schedule and reported progress on a weekly basis, and report to Senior Project Manager
Monitoring of construction budget and support progress and final expenditure predictions being timely and accurate.
Qualifications and Key Skills
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering and/or relevant equivalent experience
Experience on $20m plus projects, preferably brownfield construction sites
Technical understanding of water, wastewater and recycled water treatment, disinfection and distribution system facilities, assets and infrastructure throughout the design, operations and maintenance lifecycle
Demonstrated ability to develop sound interpersonal relationships with contractors, supplies, other authorities and Corporation staff
Ability to exercise judgement and experience to manage and resolve urgent matters during the construction and commissioning of major projects with the capacity to make decisions and communicate effectively, under limited supervision.
Experience in construction, commissioning and program reviews and quality assurance, cost and time estimates and scheduling for construction projects
