**About the Opportunity**:
Bathurst Regional Council is excited to offer a newly created 12-month contract opportunity for a Coordinator Ranger and Animal Services based in Bathurst, NSW.

In this challenging yet rewarding role, you will lead and inspire two teams: the Rangers and the Bathurst Animal Rehoming Centre (BARC) staff, totaling 15 members. Your leadership will be key to ensuring the highest standards of animal care, while also driving compliance services that contribute to a safer and more connected community. This is a 35-hour work week role, Monday to Friday, 8:15 am to 4:30 pm, with a requirement to attend to after-hours duties as needed, based on business requirements

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Leading and mentoring a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional care and maximise rehoming opportunities for animals
- Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure safe, efficient operations at BARC
- Overseeing Ranger services, including compliance enforcement and the preparation of legal proceedings
- Fostering continuous improvement and high performance in your teams, while maintaining a supportive and ethical work environment
- Building strong relationships with external stakeholders to create opportunities for rehoming, volunteering, and community engagement
- Managing budgets effectively, ensuring optimal use of resources while meeting organisational goals
- Reporting on key performance indicators, budgets, and other operational goals

**About You**:
To succeed in this role, you will have a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline (or equivalent), such as animal management, husbandry, regulatory compliance, or business administration, along with at least seven years' experience in a similar role. You are a natural leader with proven experience managing teams and driving successful outcomes. Your communication skills are second to none, and you thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

Additionally, you will bring:

- Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to manage sensitive and challenging situations
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with sound decision-making abilities
- Experience managing budgets to ensure efficient operations within allocated resources
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other web-based systems
- Experience with statutory interpretation and policy development
- Technical expertise in regulatory compliance or animal management is highly valued
- Local government experience is preferred but not essential
