THE ROLE
The Family Group Conference Convenor will play a critical role in supporting vulnerable families to make decisions and develop and implement plans about the care and safety of their children following involvement with the Child Protection program. The FGC convenor will also support families to strengthen their engagement with services. The establishment of this position is part of a Family Group Conference pilot funded by the Victorian Government which will operate in a number of sites across the state.

The position will work closely with vulnerable families, service providers, other professionals and the broader child protection workforce to support best outcomes for vulnerable children.

The position will require high level written and verbal communication skills, stakeholder engagement skills and an ability to effectively engage families and their broader social networks. The position will also be required to contribute to a variety of work priorities within the unit.

This role may at times be required to operate outside normal office hours to effectively meet the needs of families and extended networks engaged in the conferencing process.
