This is a full-time, permanent role.

**Position Accountabilities
What You'll Be Doing:
The Technical Underwriting Manager Motor is responsible for:

- The identification, design, development and implementation of new and innovative
- Domestic Motor Underwriting Guidelines, both Core and Discretionary, aimed at improving overall risk selection
- Ongoing review and enhancement of existing Domestic Motor Underwriting Guidelines aimed at optimising business outcomes and customer experience
- Design and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives within the Motor
- Underwriting system and processes, including ongoing referral automation, to ensure they remain fit for purpose and keep pace with a growing and increasingly complex Domestic Motor portfolio
- Providing coaching and support to Production Underwriters, including escalations
- User Acceptance testing of Underwriting related system changes
- **Qualifications and Experience
What You’ll Bring to the Table:

- 10+ years of General Insurance underwriting, product design, product/ portfolio management and/or claim experience; Retail Motor (Car) Insurance specific experience will be highly regarded
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, e.g. business administration, economics
- commerce, law, finance, etc. and/or professional qualification (e.g. ANZIIF) preferred
- Track record of driving successful business performance
- In-depth knowledge/ understanding of short-tail insurance product(s), underwriting and rating methods, systems, and procedures - including drivers and levers of profitable growth
- Well-developed and demonstrated understanding of the legislative, regulatory, and compliance obligations to operate in the insurance industry
