Corrections Victoria is seeking an Industry Supervisor - Metal to provide a critical role at the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC).
**About the business unit**
Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) is a maximum-security remand facility based in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Prisoners on remand are alleged offenders who were not bailed when charged with a crime and are awaiting the outcome of their court case.
The Metropolitan Remand Centre is a 954-bed maximum-security facility for unsentenced male offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice and Community Safety.
**About the role**
Prison Industry Supervisors are team leaders in the prison environment. The roles require leadership, maturity, sound judgement and confidence in decision making, with developed capabilities to coach, mentor and motivate staff and prisoners. With highly developed communication and negotiation skills, the prison industry supervisor leads and manages industry staff to achieve program and service outcomes in a multidisciplinary team and rehabilitative environment.
Some of your duties will include:
- Manage, supervise and lead a team of custodial/Industry officers in a broad range of skills including; e.g.: Welding, Boiler Maker and Metal associated trades to ensure there is a focus on service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Supervisors and manages staff in the prison Industries to ensure the safety and dynamic security of prisoners, staff and any visitors. This includes appropriate levels of surveillance and interaction within the facility, and monitoring staff and prisoners for compliance with security and occupational health and safety procedures.
- Train, supervise and support staff in all aspects of prison industries operations including prisoner training and assessment, case management, program and service knowledge and involvement, maintenance of professional boundaries and contribution to prison and prison industry security management procedures.

**About you**
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated commitment to work with staff, prisoners and other service providers in the delivery of an integrated, whole of prison program approach to reducing re-offending.
- Demonstrated knowledge of or qualifications in Commercial & Essential Industry sector, Industry Managers Manual and compliance.
- Good knowledge of OH&S policy and Procedures and Research & Development in an Industry setting
- An understanding of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001).
**Qualifications**
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (preferred).
- Qualifications and/or demonstrated experience in a relevant field.
