**The role**

This Government Department is seeking an experienced Policy Officer to provide high-quality and authoritative strategic policy advice to deliver key projects and outcomes, including the preparation of government submissions, business cases and reports, responses to issues papers and implementation plans.

It is a 3 months contract role with possible extensions.

**Responsibilities**
- Develop high quality briefings, meeting papers, presentations and correspondence
- Identify emerging complex or highly sensitive issues, risks and trends
- Influence and negotiate effectively with stakeholders
- Maintain confidentiality and display sound judgment when dealing with sensitive information and issues to provide quality and relevant information in line with government policies

**Required**
- Experience working as a Policy Officer
- Tertiary qualification(s) in public policy, law, natural resource or environmental management or similar is desirable
- Ability to start ASAP
- Strong analytical, communication, project management and stakeholder engagement skills
