Are you a dynamic communicator with a passion for engaging employees and stakeholders looking for a 3-month contract? We are seeking a talented mid-level Communications and Engagement Officer to join this Local Government and play a pivotal role in shaping our internal communication strategies.

You will plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums, and responsible for promoting our services, events and accomplishments through various channels. Experience developing new intranet sites and design would be preferred.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop and execute communications plans to promote the City of Nedlands's programs, services and events to the community.
- Managing internal communications initiatives and developing intranet online channels.
- Create engaging content for various platforms, including social media newsletters, press releases and the official website.
- Manage the organisation's social media presence, responding to inquiries, sharing updates, and driving community engagement.
- Collaborate with internal departments to ensure accurate and consistent messaging.
- Respond to feedback from staff and adjust communications content accordingly.
- Organise and facilitate community engagement events, workshops, and public consultations to gather feedback and build relationships.
- Monitor media coverage and public sentiment, providing timely responses and proactive strategies as needed.
- Advise senior executives of developments throughout.

**Criteria**:

- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or a related field.
- Relevant experience in stakeholder/ community engagement
- Proven experience in communications, public relations, or community engagement, preferably in local government or public sector setting.
- Experience developing new intranet platforms, preferably in SharePoint.
- Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in social media management, content creation and a variety of digital engagement tools.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Creative thinking and the ability to translate complex information into accessible content.
- Ability to work under pressure with tight timeframes and budgets.
- Sound time management skills including the ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks.
- Knowledge of design software such as Canva, InDesign or Photoshop, will be beneficial.
