The Human Resources (HR) Branch provides expert and strategic advice in developing the departments human resource management policies and strategies. The branch is responsible for workforce capability and planning, learning and development, employee conditions, performance management, health and wellbeing, diversity strategies, remuneration policy, recruitment, HR Assist, employee conduct and review of actions.

The Assistant Director, WHS and Wellbeing is responsible for supporting the Director, Performance and Wellbeing and managing a team responsible for providing advice, education, support and ongoing strategies that mitigate WHS risk and support staff mental health and wellbeing. The role is responsible for providing strategic advice on matters relating to wellbeing and Work Health and Safety (WHS), monitoring the departments compliance with WHS legislation, supporting staff with reasonable adjustments and identifying and implementing strategic initiatives to improve health and safety across the department.

**How you can help us make a difference**

The Assistant Director manages a team with responsibility for WHS and wellbeing. The role has responsibility for the following activities:

- maintenance, operation and development of the mental health and wellbeing program, through ongoing department engagement, information gathering and sharing, and consultation
- review, evaluate and update the WHS Management System and take responsibility for information sessions for employees, and implementation of policy
- provide strategic WHS advice and support to branches and divisions regarding WHS matters and participation in the department's mental health and wellbeing program
- manage the work of the team, allocate work and monitor work quality, providing support and leadership to staff and identifying and acting on opportunities for capability development
- oversee the provision of WHS advice to the department and develop, implement and evaluate the impact of health and wellbeing strategies across the department
- manage the assessment and provision of reasonable adjustments
- approve and be accountable for expenditure in relation to WHS assessments and related equipment
- ensure the department meets its legislated obligations in relation to the health and wellbeing of its staff
- prepare briefs for the executive and manage the preparation of content for corporate reporting.
