**Purpose of the role**:
This position will be part of Canopius Australia’s Property team to manage and develop a profitable portfolio of business. The role encompasses underwriting risks on behalf of the syndicate in accordance with the approved business plan and within personal authority limits. Managing all aspects of the property portfolio of a number of underwriting agencies. This includes responsibilities across underwriting, profitability, new business growth, renewal strategy, distribution, contractual obligations, and product & business development.

**Main Responsibilities**:

- Assess and underwrite referrals, renewal and new business in a timely and efficient manner in line with the business plan and personal authority limits
- Develop and maintain relationships with underwriting agencies and brokers
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal procedures
- Analyse terms, specification and rating on prospective and existing business
- Compile underwriting reports as appropriate
- Maintain excellent working relationships with external and internal parties as appropriate
- Compile statistics and analyse performance of all risks and accounts
- Review and finalise contract wordings and customer documentation
- Provide monthly reporting on performance of accounts
- Maintain and update own professional knowledge/qualifications/training as required

**Skills and Experience**:

- Minimum 5 years Lloyd’s, Local Insurance Company, or MGA experience in property underwriting
- Tier 1 or Cert IV in Financial Services
- General insurance and regulatory knowledge in conjunction with the above
- Advanced desktop abilities (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
