Process Safety Risk Leader

Working with an Australian ASX listed company, a strong background for delivery critical Building and Construction Materials throughout Australia. Our client is seeking an experienced Process Safety Risk Lead, to work within their plant / sites in South Australia.

This growing phase of the business has opened an opportunity for a Process Safety Risk Lead, to develop their Risk Safety Management System to work alongside their current Safety Management System, this would include risks such as: Loss of containment, Explosion, Material risk.

This role can be flexible, either Contract short term, Fixed term, or potentially full time. provide process safety expertise in planning, designing, construction, testing and maintenance phases across a range of activities within the South Australian plants/ Quarries.

This role would have substantial stakeholder negotiation and engagement. The need to be the SME (Subject Matter Expert) for the company.

**What will be required**:

- Strategically work as a SME to the company and advise on the elements which require a full process for Safety/risk to be included in their systems and activities.
- Provide guidance and production of the Policies and Procedures
- Perform process safety and risk engineering activities such as planning, design, construction, testing and maintenance.
- Undertake and coordinate safety studies, including HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, Consequence Modelling, and Bowtie Analysis.
- Conduct Technical Safety Engineering deliverable reviews and manage the HSE Risk Register
- Provide technical review of safety study reports
- Managing and assisting with the development of technical documents and reports
- Preparation, facilitation and reporting of risk assessments and HAZID/HAZOP workshops
- Keeping up to date with current legislation/regulations/regulator expectations, risk management standards and industry guidance
- Developing of critical control performance standards
- Supporting close out of safety study actions
- Contributing to the development of standards, procedures, guidelines, and training materials for the effective implementation of the Process Safety Management System
- Ensuring process safety standards are applied consistently

**KEY REQUIREMENTS**:

- Tertiary qualification in engineering/ Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- Experience in chemical processing/ Industrial Mining or related industry
- Up to date with current legislation/regulations/regulator expectations, risk management standards and industry guidance
- Previous Workshop facilitation and presentation experience
- HAZID, Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), PHA, Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) knowledge and experience
- Mature approach in relationship management of people
- Safety in design engineering experience
- Experience in delivery and facilitation of process safety studies
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to operate in a dynamic and challenging environment
